United Breaks Guitars

UBG Song#3 is released! www.davecarrollmusic.com/song3 There is now a video response: www.youtube.com Full Story: www.davecarrollmusic.com - In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway. United: Song 3 is coming. I promise. Follow me at twitter.com . Video Produced by Curve Productions of Halifax, www.curveproductionsinc.com.

I can never get tired of watching United Breaks Guitars You can see it in here: qui*ckfre*emov*ie.*c*om (Del. the * * )
Toy Story, A-Team, Prince of Persia, Despicable me etc. etc. You name it, they show it right on this great site: qu/ickf/reemov/ie./co/m ( Remove the / / )
The loaders are not employees of the airline companys, they are employees of the airports. So the airport managment must pay for the broken guitar…
LOL this is awesome!
Stick it to them dude…! Loved the song, it´s very good. I bet United regretts not having paid for what they broke, huh?
Great job man
Damn right you are!
Great song.
And you can add British Airways to that list.
Broke my classical guitar on a flight to Chicago and wouldn’t acknowledge a thing.
Finally they paid me 50 (!) Bucks which was nearly enough for the tankproof case I bought for the flight back.
United sucks
man if i could afford a taylor and somebody broke it i’d go homicidal :)
Great song! stick it to them, the incredulous bastards! Of course, NOW they Care( United), right?
I guess I will not bring my guitar on United! :(
This is amazing :)
The song was also in our Newspaper in Germany :)
I think the song has made a difference - thank you for helping everyone traveling with instruments. I just flew United from Frankfurt to San Francisco and was amazed that they helped me with my guitar. It could have been luck (or a parallel universe) as the entire crew was very nice and friendly on the flight… huge contrast to some very unpleasant experiences in the past few years. But I think it was the song that made the difference on making things easier to bring the guitar…
Dave -this made my day! I’m so sorry you suffered but having lived United 1k hell for the last 10 years, but especially in the last month, this just sent a huge gust of cheer through me! I hope this cost United millions of dollars. United’s complete apathy toward their customers continues to sink deeper by the day. Let’s hope when Continental takes over, they fire most of the United deadwood and maybe something can change! Thanks for the great song!
cant imagine if they did that to yngwie!!
Just think of how many instruments or equipment the airlines have broken and got away with it. That is, until they came across this awesome writer and musician! What a way to make a problem that was small to them SOOOO big. Way to go Dave Carroll.
Fly Delta Airlines! or Air Canada!
Nice song …united did broke guitars
i heard about this on the news about a year ago
829 people thumb down are united airline employee
if they broke my guitar i would prbly cry. this just goes to show u that u cant mess with musicans! haha cool song hope u guys go far in ur carrer, good luck :)
@GaolisVideoLog
Cheers for that Gaolis, I learn’t something new. That will come in handy the next time I decide to bring any of my guitars with me.
Now all I need is hoilday. =)
Best of luck to you.
@Tomsthumb Ah, I see. Sorry to hear that. My friend just told me that they talked to Lufthansa before the flight. She said you have to contact the flight company first. She said Lufthansa told them to hand in the instruments some time before the flight to prepare them. Also, she said they had these special cabins for objects that can’t handle pressure and moisture changes that well. Again, sorry to hear what happened to your guitar.
@GaolisVideoLog
Tension on the neck changes at different temperatures and altitudes. It does do damage, Trust me.
Your supposed to detune your strings but that only helps.
The body on my accustic got warped from cabin pressure.
Some interstuments would indeed indure it if they had a kick-ass hard case.
I on the other hand only had a cheap gig bag and paid the price.
DIE UNITED DIE!
@Tomsthumb “cabin pressure would warp the neck” Not true. A german friend of mine is a violin player. She and the entire orchestra flew from Germany to Brazil. All instruments were just fine after both trips. Of course they didn’t use United but Lufthansa.
